Scholarships
Inaugurated in 2023, the Harvey Dunmore Scholarship Charity Foundation has raised funds via generous Gofundme donations along with the proceeds made from the Bagby Airfield Flyaway Ball. These funds were initially donated to the Honourable Company of Air Pilots who facilitated three Dunmore scholarships in 2024.
We now aim to provide further scholarship opportunities to local aspirant aviators from the North East and North Yorkshire and we have our own in-house scholarship programme with the aim of providing a full PPL scholarship every year.

Current Scholarship Opportunities
The Harvey Dunmore Scholarship Charity Foundation PPL(A) Flying Scholarship is open to young aspiring pilots who are permanent UK residents aged 16–23 on 1st May 2026 and do not yet hold a Private Pilot Licence (those currently in training may still apply).

Applications close 30 April 2026

Training must take place at a charity-approved CAA flying school in the North East / North Yorkshire

Applicants must be capable of meeting CAA Class 2 medical standards. The medical certification and travel expenses are not included

All training must be completed by June 2027

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an in-person interview at Bagby Airfield (June 2026)

Successful applicants will be notified by 30 June 2026

The scholarship winner will be announced at the Foundation Ball on 18 July 2026
